About me

Kehkashan Khalid is a writer, artist, and mother of three telling stories in prose and pixels. Her stories and illustrations explore the surreal, the speculative, born from the crossroads of her Pakistani roots and her life in Saudi Arabia.

She holds an MA in Fine Art Digital from the University of the Arts London, graduating with distinction in 2019; her thesis project was acquired by the UAL Collection. That same year, her story won The Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction, marking the beginning of a body of work that spans fiction, art, and narrative design.

Her short stories have appeared in Fantasy Magazine, Translunar Travelers Lounge, and The Gollancz Book of South Asian Science Fiction, among others. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of Tasavvur Magazine — a home for South Asian speculative fiction — and as a slush reader for Clarkesworld.

By day, Kehkashan works with Fraag Games as a narrative designer, helping craft Pakistan’s first historical-fantasy video game. She is a Clarion West 2025 graduate.

When she’s not writing or painting, she’s reading stories to or listening to stories from her children, playing padel or playing board games with family and friends, because she believes you can do anything you put your mind to and imagination isn’t limited to the page.
